Modeling the bed.....

I was trying here to make the bed smaller but as i did the curtians in nurbs and not polygons i was unable to group them and resize them all together therefore i had to re-size the polygons seperatly and piece the jigsaw back together afterwards.
Here i had a bit of help to make the matress move and rig it so we could animate it falling or landing into place with the help of a little magic. For this i learnt how to use clusters and group them together with handles to make them move. I wasn't able to group one cluster to more than one group, so the mattresses were only given a certain amount of movement then i would have liked.
The carpet spread out of the raised peddle stool area to try blend in with the rest of the room.
The same crown and pea inside is used on as many objects as i could to blend them in together.

The fabric was very hard to combine together to show no gaps and i still havent managed to get it perfect but i think it still looks pretty good, you would probably still be able to see the gaps but not all fabric is joined together on a bed anyway.

I had problems with the posts as we wanted the posts to be round circles to be the peas and then pods to cover them, but i couldn't get the right shape i wanted for it. I did in the end manage it, but we have had debates on wether it should be the same colour or different.
Red velvet was the first effect created, but red wouldn't fit in with our colour scheme and thought it was too strong, so it was changed.

Modelling

I started all my models using planes and tried to match the pictures in there way of design.

I used basic Polygons and put them together to create the shapes.

With the chandelier i found it hard to get the bent metal to curve in the way i wanted it to go. For this i learnt how to use curves and extrude polygons to go along the curve which really helped me out with the shape i was trying to create.

Here i Have modeled a grandfather clock to either go in the corridor to the Room or in the room. I have given it a slight texture, but this is not the final texture, it was more to see how the clock looked as in its default grey you cant see all the detail i tried to put in. I managed to make the door glass and therefore you should be able to see the grandfather clock's pendulum swinging. I haven't quite finished of the design of the pendulum, and i still need to add the clocks handles which hopefully will be animated.

Furniture research

As i am modeler, i thought i would do some research into the types of furniture we could use for the project.

We decided that as Princess and the pea was set in a castle, it would be along time ago. I started to look into furniture and times. Most of the furniture i liked the look of was that of Chippendale. I decided that all the furniture should have some kind of Design era to it, and that they should all look like they come from the same time era.

This First room came from a book on edwardian and Victorian furniture. I took it as i liked the lighting shining in from the window, I thought we could do a similar thing to pin point the bed.

This Picture was taken for the colors used, as the murkey green may go well in the room, And as peas are green it may go with the theme. I also liked the Arch way, and thought it was a good perspective to come from.

This picture was taken for the chandelier and the alcove going round the wall. I also liked the look of the candles dotted around for the lighting and overall effect.

I took this picture for the pattern on the floor. If we wanted to have two separate floors we could have a balcony that went round. the top and the mattresses piled high in the middle.

I looked at the pillars as i wasn't sure if we were having them or not within the room. I could also use these designs for the bed pillar posts.

The picture on the left looked at the grandfather clock desings. I liked the top of the grandfather clock, although that pattern is a bit over the top.
The candle holders were a nice design and I want to use it for the chandalier design.

I began to look at lots of different things that would go in the room.

Princess and the Pea - Chosen Idea

I thought about what story we could have behind the environment and came up with the princess and the pea. These images helped to give us some ideas. The environment would be of a fairy tale bedroom. The changes in the environment would be of time. the mattresses will flop down as day changes to night.

The story of the princess and the pea will help us to get ideas to put into the bedroom.

Environment Ideas

Ive trying to think of environments which we can do for our project. Here are my main ideas.

We had an idea of Snow and ice and doing a ski lodge, however, We were told that it would be very hard to do the snow, and therefore it wont look like a proper environment that can be used. SO therefore we all had a think about the things we could go for.

Environment: Pirate Ship.

Old ship, gone to burry treasure. This should be able to show how a ship is used. how it gets old and broken down and changes into an old pirate ship.

Broken down, Under construction early century church.

Moving home box of stuff. Making a small environment.

Environment: Bath, Things to go in it, duck. Will be hard to recreate the water,

Environment: Baby Cot
Year: 1920s
Teddy trying to get out, obstacles within the cot always makes him stay inside the cot.

Lighting: Night light when big light gets turned off.
